The Gourmet Food Project

The Gourmet Food Project is designed to support the ongoing development of Queensland's premium food sector. The project aims to:

  • build the marketing capacity of Queensland farming and food businesses (small to medium-sized enterprises) producing premium products, including organics, Australian native foods, tropical fruit, seafood and game meats for niche markets
  • build relationships between farming and food businesses, the food service sector, niche retailers and food media in Queensland and interstate
  • partner with industry and local, state and federal agencies to develop and promote Queensland food.

Gourmet Food Project activities include:

  • regular information updates to the 320 farming and food businesses currently involved in the network
  • networking events and capacity-building workshops for farming and food businesses in partnership with industry, local government and other state government departments
  • support for regional food groups and food projects
  • showcasing Queensland-grown produce to chefs, restaurateurs, distributors, niche retailers and food media via publications, roundtables and trade events (for example, Restaurant 09 Sydney).
