Article summary

Cover of Healthy Soils for Great Turf - Proceedings of a Workshop

Water repellency is a common problem of soils growing turf. These soils fail to absorb water uniformly, resulting in dry patches.

Below is a link to an article that was written for the workshop 'Healthy soils for great turf', held at Cleveland on 20 February 2006 by the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, Queensland. The causes and consequences of soil water repellency are discussed in the article. Treatment options are examined, including management practices and the most effective types of surfactants. Recommendations are given for applying surfactants.
