Product information

MacMan is a management system to monitor and improve macadamia orchard profitability and nut quality. The MacMan products that are available to growers include:

  • Simple yet comprehensive recording systems (computer software and diary) that allow growers to monitor orchard activity and satisfy customer's food safety and quality recording requirements.
  • Reports and comparative analysis tools that can be used to analyse and compare the performance of the different parts of an enterprise.

The MacMan recording systems are available for a nominal charge to all levy-paying members of the Australian macadamia industry. Specialist training sessions are provided at scheduled times for users of the MacMan software.

Farm recording products

Good farm records provide a means of identifying and implementing best farm practices. They also enable growers to assure their customers that their food safety and quality requirements have been met.

The major MacMan product is the farm recording software. You can use the MacMan software to record information about the following:

  • farms, blocks and plantings (or sub-blocks)
  • employees
  • customers and suppliers
  • pests and diseases
  • farm chemicals (including maintaining a stock inventory)
  • storage vessels (such as silos)
  • water sources (such as dams and creeks)
  • orchard and shed jobs (spraying, pruning, dehusking etc)
  • time sheet details
  • production costs
  • harvest yield details
  • dehusking and sorting, resorting, transfer and dispatch details
  • factory results (including kernel recovery, price, reject analysis)
  • leaf and soil analysis results
  • water quality analyses results
  • pest and disease monitoring results
  • weather details (including rainfall, temperature, relative humidity and cloudy days)
  • growth cycles.

A MacMan diary has also been designed to enable users who prefer to use a paper-based system to keep the same records that the recording software. The two systems are complementary to enable growers who do not use a computer for farm recording at this stage to switch easily from the diary to the computer system when they are ready.

There are also 42 different reports that can be produced using the MacMan software. These include a number of highly visual trend and pie charts that enable you to see and compare important information at a glance.

Services

Specialist training sessions are available at scheduled times to all levy-paying members of the Australian macadamia industry using the MacMan software. Training consists of a full-day introductory session and a half-day follow-up session.

An email support service is also provided free of charge.

Best practice groups

Best practice groups of macadamia growers are being formed in major production regions. These groups are using reports generated by the MacMan farm recording software to analyse and compare the performance of their enterprises. This information is then used to improve their productivity and efficiency.
