Getting started

Commercial pig raising is a capital- and labour-intensive business. Success requires a sound combination of business management and pig husbandry knowledge and skills.

Thinking about keeping one or a few pigs? Check with your council first. Even if you keep just one pig, you must adhere to state government rules and regulations including pig identification and welfare requirements.
