Fisheries Queensland a service of the Department of Employment Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) develops and applies fisheries legislation and other policy tools.

- Fisheries Queensland has an obligation to develop and implement a suite of policies and guidelines to maintain the objectives of the Fisheries Act 1994.
- Legislation
- Legislation is a powerful regulatory tool, which should be applied where the response necessitates rights or obligations are to be modified. The primary legislation for the identification management of Queensland´s fisheries resources is the Fisheries Act
- Strategies and Consultations
- Fisheries Queensland develops and implements strategies to provide future directions of key fisheries management issues.
- Queensland Fisheries Advisory Committee
- Queensland Fisheries Advisory Committee (QFAC) members provide guidance to government officers, potential and appointed members of advisory bodies, fishery stakeholders and the general public
