Invasive plant and animal science

Weed and pest animal research is an excellent investment. Economic studies have shown that the benefit to cost ratio can be as high as 80:1 when considering the impacts on Queensland's agriculture, environment and community.

At six locations, Biosecurity Queensland delivers innovative, applied research to better manage Queensland's worst weeds and pest animals and to reduce their impacts. In collaboration with national and international partners, the Invasive Plant and Animal Science unit delivers science-based tools, knowledge and management practices to Queensland landholders and land managers. Our work is organised into four statewide research programs dedicated to solving Queensland's weed and pest animal problems.
