Veterinary and chemical residue laboratories
Samples can be submitted by private or industry veterinarians, Biosecurity Queensland staff (veterinarians, biosecurity inspectors, researchers) and some farmer groups (such as aquaculture/fish/prawn farmers).

Chemical Residue Laboratory
The laboratory works on monitoring chemical residues in food which has important implications to both domestic consumers and in protecting export market access for Queensland primary producers. -
Tropical and aquatic animal health laboratory
The work carried out by the laboratory is focused on the animal health problems likely to be encountered in tropical environments. -
Biosecurity Sciences Laboratory
The work carried out by the laboratory is focused on animal health problems likely to be encountered in south-eastern Queensland, especially in the poultry and aquaculture industries. -
Natural Toxins Laboratory
The laboratory supports a range of industry-funded research projects in a wide range of areas, from poisonous plant toxins to fungal toxins in food crops. -
Animal Disease Surveillance Laboratory
ADSL is the lead surveillance laboratory for the state, providing a diagnostic service to both intensive and extensive livestock industries, as well as emerging industries and peri-urban livestock farming.

Sample submission guidelines
Diagnoses and laboratory results are only as good as the samples submitted. Maintaining sample integrity is vital in order for accurate diagnosis. -
Acceptance of specimens
Please note that samples from any animal will be accepted, regardless of background, if a disease incident is deemed to present an unacceptable risk to the health of either the community or commercial livestock.

Please complete the specimen advice sheet when submitting samples for analysis. A sample numbering sheet is required when sampling a group of animals.
