General information

The common passionfruit (Passiflora edulis) is a vigorous, woody, climbing vine characterised by its deeply three-lobed leaf.

Passionfruit is not a declared pest plant under Queensland legislation.

Scientific name Passiflora edulis
Description
  • has distinctive white flowers, approximately 6 cm in diameter, either tinged with purple or deep purple at the centre
  • edible passionfruit are about 4 cm in diameter, purple when ripe
  • lobes are pointed, up to 10 cm in length
  • leaves crinkled, glossy dark-green above, paler and dull beneath, with serrated edges
