Administration and enforcement of the Animal Care and Protection Act

Biosecurity Queensland, a service of the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, administers the Queensland Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 (the ACPA). Animal welfare inspectors from Biosecurity Queensland and the RSPCA enforce the ACPA. Biosecurity Queensland appoints these inspectors. Officers of the Queensland Police Service are also able to fully respond to animal welfare complaints under the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000.
