Southern Queensland Farming Systems (SQFS) project

The Southern Queensland Farming Systems project is focusing on major natural resource management (NRM) issues such soil water management and long-term soil nutrient rundown as well as farming system adaptations to climate change and variability.

The project is led by CSIRO in collaboration with the Queensland Departments of Primary Industries and Fisheries, and Natural Resources and Water.

The project covers a wide grain-growing area from St George to Pittsworth, Roma, Clifton and Goondiwindi. The Eastern and Western Downs not only extend across a large area but encompass a multitude of soils and dryland or irrigated farms, each with slightly different climatic characteristics.

Find more information on this project at CSIRO's website.
