| Background | Jon Penberthy has been employed at the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) Redlands Research Station since February 2007 as an experimentalist and greenkeeper, working with the many different warm season turfgrasses. His background in the greenkeeping industry has brought a wealth of experience to the team. Mr Penberthy worked as a golf course superintendent in Queensland for 16 years, in addition to seven years at golf clubs in Victoria. He has been heavily involved in various industry bodies at executive level and sat on various industry advisory boards. |

Current research
Mr Penberthy manages DPI&F´s purpose-built greens research facility and is evaluating the performance of hybrid couch and seashore paspalum cultivars for greens use. He also works on other trials including the performance of greens grasses in regional areas and phytotoxicity testing.
