DPI&F Biosecurity protects the health of horse through disease and pest prevention activities and responsible animal welfare through the promotion of 'Duty of Care' regulations.  Movements of horses across the tick line must also comply with regulations.  Sporadic infections of Hendra virus have occurred in horses.  Owners of horses and veterinarians treating horses should be familiar with DPI&F information provided on Hendra virus.
