Exotic pest fish
Non-indigenous fish should never be released into any natural waterway because of the risk they pose to local fish and the aquatic environment. These fish can establish rapidly, competing with local fish for food and habitat, and introducing diseases and parasites.
Some fish pose such a grave danger that they have been declared noxious pests by Australian law. These fish are strictly regulated and cannot be kept, hatched, reared or sold. When caught all noxious fish should be destroyed; they must not be returned to the water and must never be used as bait, live or dead.
