Invasive plant and animal science

Weed and pest animal research is an excellent investment. Economic studies have shown that the benefit to cost ratio can be as high as 80:1 when considering the impacts on Queensland's agricultural production, community health and natural ecosystems.

At five research centres, DPI&F undertakes innovative, quality research for improved management of Queensland´s weeds and pest animals and their impacts. In collaboration with partners, the Invasive Plant and Animal Science unit delivers science-based tools, knowledge and management practices to Queensland landholders and land managers. Our work is organised into four state-wide research programs dedicated to solving Queensland's weed and pest animal problems:
