Identifying, moving and selling livestock

Australia leads the world with its system of livestock identification and traceability. This system, and the regulations governing the movement and sale of livestock, make our food safer and more competitive in international export markets.

Branding and earmarking livestock in Queensland

Brands and earmarks prove ownership of livestock but are not compulsory, except for cattle and pigs when they are being sold. We recommend using brands to avoid ownership disputes.
