Business and trade

The $11 billion food and agribusiness sector is a key contributor to our state´s economy, generating employment and sustaining regional development. The sector contributes more than $6 billion in export earnings and accounts for nearly one-quarter of Queensland´s total exports.

The Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries is working to improve Queensland´s primary industries by increasing competitiveness, productivity, innovation and access to markets. Through world-class research and stringent biosecurity standards, we are ensuring that Queensland retains its reputation as a producer of safe, innovative, market-focused products.
