Moving horses in Queensland

Under the Stock Act, when horses are moved in Queensland they may be required to be accompanied by a waybill.

A waybill is required for the following movements:

  • horses crossing the tick line
  • horses moving interstate
  • horses going to the RNA showgrounds
  • horses changing ownership
  • horses not returning home
  • horse sales
  • horses going to abattoirs.

As per the Stock Identification Regulation 2005, horse owners throughout Queensland are required to register the place where their horses are kept with DPI&F and obtain a property identification code (PIC).

If you have horses and have not registered the place where they are kept, you are required to do so.

Register your property online.
