About
Queensland’s brightest university minds will participate in an exciting three-day hackathon to tackle a problem statement that addresses the impacts of climate variability in Queensland’s primary industries.
Host
Hosted by the Department of Primary Industries, the 'Solutions for climate adaptation in Queensland agriculture hackathon' is supported by the Drought and Climate Adaptation Program (DCAP) and represented by 5 leading universities.
How it will work
The event will bring together students from diverse disciplines to tackle one of the most pressing challenges facing Queensland’s primary industries.
Participants will work in teams to solve a problem statement that addresses the impacts of climate variability on Queensland’s primary industries. The challenge will push students to think creatively, collaborate across disciplines and develop innovative solutions that could transform the future of agriculture, drought management and climate adaptation.
Mentoring for success
Teams will be guided and mentored by industry experts and department leaders in fields such as primary industries, climate science and drought resilience.
DCAP Program Manager Neil Cliffe said Queensland’s primary industries were increasingly challenged by climate variability, which affected the profitability and sustainability of businesses across the supply chain.
“We’re looking to the next generation of leaders to bring fresh perspectives and bold ideas to help tackle these challenges head-on,” he said.
