Western Queensland graziers impacted by the floods in early 2025 have just one week to submit their Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the Exclusion Fence Recovery Grants before they close on 30 June 2026.

The $105 million Exclusion Fence Restitution Program, jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), provides grants of up to $500,000 to eligible graziers to rebuild damaged or destroyed exclusion fencing.

Since the program was announced in April 2025, the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) has worked closely with graziers and service providers, Quilpie Shire Council and the Remote Area Planning and Development Board (RAPAD), to ensure the program delivers meaningful support to flood-affected communities.

This includes support to Steven Hall, a grazier on the Bulloo River in Quilpie Shire, who secured a grant last year after losing 2,600 full-wool sheep and 23 kilometres of exclusion fencing during the event.

For Mr Hall, the grant provided hope during a difficult time, and his experience highlights the importance of the support activated to assist Queensland’s primary producers in recovering from natural disasters.

“The grant has enabled me to build back stronger and faster,” Mr Hall said.

“The new exclusion fence will reduce predators, contribute to pasture recovery and protect our enterprise’s biodiversity. Simply put, the fence is crucial in providing long-term sustainability to my property.”

DPI Acting Deputy Director-General, Agriculture, Peter Donaghy encouraged producers to submit their EOIs before the deadline.

“We understand the challenges that weather events like these have on producers and the wider community. These grants provide access to vital funding that will help graziers rebuild and recover from the devastating impacts of last year’s floods and the renewed flooding experienced this year,” Mr Donaghy said.

“The grants are here to support producers while they rebuild, they provide hope and tangible benefits. We are encouraging producers not to self-assess their eligibility, but to reach out to us to register their interest before the EOIs close. Submitting an EOI will allow us to check their eligibility to ensure producers aren't missing out on what's available to help them recover.”

The grants are available to eligible producers in the following Local Government Areas:
