The Queensland Government has opened nominations for the Liz Alexander Bursary for Leadership in AgTech and Innovation which supports emerging leaders who are driving innovation across Queensland's agriculture and technology sectors.

The $3,000 bursary will provide an AgTech leader with the opportunity to attend evokeAG. 2027 in Adelaide from 16 to 17 February 2027, helping them connect with industry leaders, expand their professional networks and showcase their contributions at Asia Pacific's premier agrifood innovation event.

The bursary honours the remarkable legacy of Liz Alexander, a visionary leader from Emerald who played a pivotal role in shaping Queensland's AgTech ecosystem, and celebrates leadership, innovation and collaboration within the sector.

Inaugural recipient Britta Marsh said the opportunity had a significant impact on her professional development and profile within the industry.

“The Liz Alexander Bursary helped elevate my profile not only within Queensland, but across Australia, and gave more people an understanding of who I am, the work I am doing and my passion for connecting and strengthening the AgTech ecosystem,” Ms Marsh said.

“I know Liz was a powerful connector within the sector, and that is something I have really aspired to continue through my own work - being generous with contacts, making introductions and helping people navigate the ecosystem wherever I can.”

“The bursary helped strengthen my ability to act as a connector across industry, government, investment and the broader agritech community. In that sense, I hope I have been able to carry forward a small part of Liz’s legacy through the way I approach my own role in the ecosystem.”
