Primary producers impacted by the North and Far North Tropical Low in 2025 are being urged to apply for recovery assistance before applications close on 14 August 2026.
Exceptional Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants of up to $75,000 are available to help eligible primary producers recover from the impacts of the North and Far North Tropical Low event that occurred between 29 January and 28 February 2025.
Eligible primary producers located within the declared disaster areas of Burdekin, Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Charters Towers, Flinders, Hinchinbrook, Palm Island, Tablelands, Townsville and Yarrabah are encouraged to apply.
Department of Primary Industries Acting Deputy Director-General, Agriculture, Peter Donaghy said the grants provide practical support to help cover the costs of clean-up and reinstatement activities.
"Up to $75,000 is available to assist eligible producers with expenses such as repairing cultivation, replacing damaged fencing, restocking, and other recovery costs directly associated with the disaster," Mr Donaghy said.
"We know that navigating recovery assistance can sometimes be challenging, particularly while managing day-to-day demands. That's why producers are encouraged to connect with their local Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer if they need support understanding eligibility requirements, gathering documentation, or completing their application."
"With applications closing on 14 August 2026, I encourage all eligible producers who have sustained direct damage from the event to submit their applications as soon as possible," Mr Donaghy said.
Primary producers in Cassowary Coast Regional Council and Flinders Shire Council may also be eligible for separate disaster recovery assistance for impacts caused by the Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji, Cyclone Narelle and severe weather event (24 December 2025 to 24 April 2026).
Producers in these areas are encouraged to review all available assistance measures to ensure they access the support they may be entitled to.
