We provide reports, strategies, and policies to guide decision-making, ensure accountability and support Queensland’s primary industries.

Primary Industries Prosper 2050

Our 25-year blueprint for Queensland's primary industries.

Strategic plan

We outline our purpose and set our vision and objectives for the next 4 years in the strategic plan.

The plan identifies a range of strategies to achieve these objectives, along with key performance indicators, risks, and opportunities.

Service delivery statements

We provide details on budget allocations, service priorities, and performance measures for government programs and initiatives through our Service Delivery Statements.

Prepared under the Financial Accountability Act 2009, these statements support the Queensland Government’s budget process by outlining key investments, strategic objectives, and financial management across agriculture, biosecurity, fisheries and forestry.

Annual report

We report on performance, governance, and finances each year, outlining achievements, financial outcomes, and future direction in our annual report.

Disability service plan

We improve accessibility, inclusion, and workplace support through our Disability Service Plan, ensuring equitable services for people with a disability.

The plan aligns with Australia's Disability Strategy and the Queensland Government’s commitment to inclusion, outlining actions to improve access to services, information, and facilities. We report annually on progress as part of the whole-of-government report.

Disaster management plan

We strengthen industry resilience and response to natural disasters and biosecurity risks through our Disaster Management Plan.

The plan outlines our roles and responsibilities in disaster management, detailing how we prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. It also sets out our leadership role in managing pests and diseases that threaten agriculture, including responses separate from state disaster operations.

Equity, diversity and belonging plan

We foster an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected and supported through our Equity, Diversity and Belonging Plan.

The plan outlines actions to ensure fair hiring, provide diversity training, and support employee networks. We review progress annually and adjust based on insights from our equity and diversity audit.

Impact analysis statements

We assess the effects of proposed policies and programs on industries, communities, and stakeholders using Impact Analysis Statements to support informed decision-making.

Under the Queensland Government Better Regulation Policy, we publish statements for approved regulatory proposals, outlining assessments of their potential impact.

Information security attestation

We manage information security risks to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data are maintained. We demonstrate our continued commitment to managing information security risks through the Information Security Attestation.

Our Information Security Management System takes a risk-based approach to protect information and minimise threats within our established risk appetite. The Director-General attests to our security management each year.

Integrity framework

We promote strong governance, ethical behaviour, and compliance through the Integrity Framework (PDF, 486KB), ensuring accountability across our operations.

The framework connects policies, guidelines, training, and awareness with whole-of-government legislation and Queensland public service values, guiding ethical decision-making across all levels of service delivery.

Multicultural action plan

We outline how we support Queensland’s diverse communities by improving access, engagement, and opportunities through our Multicultural Action Plan.

The plan aligns with the Queensland Government Multicultural Policy and focuses on culturally responsive government, inclusive communities, and economic opportunities. We report annually on key initiatives that drive progress in these areas.

Open data strategy

We enhance transparency and public access to government data by publishing datasets in accordance with the Open Data Strategy.

The strategy supports the Queensland Government’s commitment to open data, outlining available datasets and future goals. Our data is published on the Open Data Portal and Publications Portal.

Stakeholder engagement charter

We outline our principles and commitments for meaningful engagement with industry and communities in our Stakeholder Engagement Charter.

The charter sets expectations for respectful, two-way engagement and provides guidance on the standard of engagement stakeholders can expect from us and the behaviour we expect in return.

Waste reduction and recycling plan

The Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 requires all Queensland Government departments to have an active strategic waste management plan.

Our Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan outlines how we manage waste across our operations to support sustainability and compliance.

The plan focuses on 3 key objectives:

  • minimising waste generation to reduce environmental impacts and greenhouse gas emissions
  • maximising recycling, diversion, recovery, and reuse opportunities to reduce landfill waste
  • embedding circular economy values by fostering a culture of waste reduction across the department.

We contribute to the Queensland Government Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy by working towards the following 2030 targets for commercial and industrial waste:

  • 80% of generated waste is diverted from landfill to a recovery stream
  • 60% of total waste recycled.

To meet legislative requirements, we report annually on the implementation of our plan.
