Former Queensland Agriculture Training Colleges

Queensland Agriculture Training Colleges (QATC) ceased operation on 6 December 2019.

At that time, all students had either completed their studies at QATC or had been transferred to an alternative training provider at no cost to themselves.

The department took over management of the ex-QATC sites at Longreach, Emerald and Blackwater once the QATC finished practical operations.

The 2021–2022 State Budget allocated $16.74 million to maintain and repurpose the former Emerald and Longreach QATC properties for future uses and establish the Central Queensland Smart Cropping Centre at Emerald.

Longreach Pastoral College

In July 2022, Minister Furner announced the former Longreach Pastoral College property would be put to market late in 2022.

The property was placed on the market in December 2022 through a tender process and sold for $12.4 million.

Emerald Agricultural College

DAF is enhancing and expanding its existing Emerald Research Facility located at the Emerald site to build a flagship innovation facility, the Central Queensland Smart Cropping Centre.

Berrigurra station

Berrigurra Station was sold at auction in May 2021 for $32.5 million, with the net sale proceeds returned to Treasury as per Queensland Government policy.

Annual report 2019–2020

The former Queensland Agriculture Training Colleges Final Report for the period 1 July 2019 to 29 February 2020 was tabled in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland.

Student records

A copy of QATC student outcomes has been transferred to the Australian Skills Quality Authority.
