Agri-Science Queensland (ASQ) drives productivity and innovation in Queensland’s agriculture and food industries through world-class research, development and extension (RD&E).

Making a difference

ASQ’s RD&E delivers impact for the Queensland Government and the many Queensland industries we service, including:

  • livestock
  • aquaculture
  • cropping
  • horticulture
  • forestry
  • timber
  • food processing.

Queensland’s agricultural industries operate in a globally trade exposed environment. The investment in our RD&E is essential for this international competitiveness.

Our RD&E projects:

  • deliver on government objectives
  • invest for impacts
  • operate where there is market failure.

Excellence in research

We have more than 600 highly skilled staff working from 38 locations across the state, including the 24 research facilities managed by ASQ.

ASQ’s 2025 RD&E portfolio of about 160 projects is valued at $850 million.

The average duration of a research project is 3.8 years.

ASQ collaborates with approximately 174 different organisations within Australia, and a further 38 organisations across 19 different countries.

We also support Queensland Government responses to natural disasters, biosecurity incidents and other disasters.
