Research priorities
Our research goal is to improve the profitability and sustainability of Queensland’s forestry industries by focusing on:
- transforming forest protection by improving pest, disease management, and biosecurity preparednesss
- advancing genetics using new breeding technologies to develop resilient tree varieties
- driving production systems by optimising timber productivity and quality, and improving soil management systems
- advancing timber products and processing.
National research alignment
Our work with the forestry and forest product industries is undertaken within the following frameworks:

- National Forest Biosecurity Surveillance Strategy
- Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) programs
- Queensland Forest and Timber Industry Plan.
