From 24 to 30 August, National Biosecurity Week celebrates the people, partnerships and everyday actions that help protect Australia from pests, diseases and invasive species.
In Queensland, biosecurity helps protect what matters most, from our food supply and primary industries to our economy, environment and places we love.
Ways to get involved
Everyone has a role to play in biosecurity.
Simple actions can make a difference:
- Report unusual pests, diseases or invasive species.
- Understand the biosecurity risks for your home, garden or property.
- Take care when moving plants, animals, soil and equipment and follow biosecurity restrictions.
- Check for hitchhiker pests hiding on vehicles, equipment or deliveries.
- Come clean, go clean when entering or leaving your property and places.
- Review biosecurity risks for your business.
- Share biosecurity information with family, friends and colleagues.
- Visit the Walking with Invasives Biosecurity Trail at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha.
